Before You Drive

Before you can start having driving lessons you need to make sure you've received your provisional driving licence. You can apply online and if you choose this method you should get your licence in the post within 7 days.

You can apply for your licence three months before your 17th birthday, so if you're keen to get started, apply in advance and book your first lesson with us on or soon after your birthday!

Driving theory test

The Theory Test

You'll need to have passed the driving theory test within the two years before your practical test date. This test is in two parts. The first is a multiple choice test with various questions relating to different topics on the Highway Code and road safety. The second part - Hazard Perception - involves you watching short video clips and tests your ability to react quickly to various hazards on the road which you might encounter in day to day driving

You can take practice theory tests at many websites online. We'd recommend either using the Safe Driving for Life test, or Theory Test Pro. Both of these are free! You can also watch and try some mock Hazard Perception videos. Find your local theory test centre by entering your postcode below and clicking Go!

The Practical Test

Now you've passed your theory test and had lots of lessons with us, once we feel you're ready we'll let you know you can book your practical test. Again you can book this online. You'll take your test at either the Heckmondwike or Huddersfield test centre.

All being well you'll be able to ditch the L-plates after your test and enjoy your new found freedom! Good luck!
